Faraway Cottage

Tanagra is an idyllic wine farm close to McGregor and part of the Robertson Wine Route and Route 62, producing handcrafted wines and Grappa as well as Eau de Vie. Faraway is a 2-bedroom eco cottage built on the most solitary spot on the farm – just fynbos, mountains, endless skies, and silence.

THE COTTAGE

The cottage is designed to allow for unobstructed and sweeping views from every room and corner. There is cellphone reception but no WiFi.  The cottage combines the traditional features of a Cape Langhuis with an eco-friendly (off the grid) and modern design, with large panorama windows and doors.

SLEEPING

The master bedroom features a king size bed (extra bed available on request for accompanying child, at an extra fee) and ceiling fan. The en-suite bathroom includes toilet, bath (with a view!) and shower.

The 2nd bedroom features 2 single/ twin beds (extra bed available on request for accompanying child, at an extra fee) and ceiling fan. The en-suite bathroom includes a toilet and shower.

LIVING

The lounge has an open fireplace (with starter set of wood & firelighters, extra wood available for fee) and gas heater for cold nights. Outdoors is a private plunge pool (unheated and not fenced), a large and shaded stoep with deck chairs and a sofa as well as a braai area.

The fully equipped kitchen features a freezer/ fridge combination, gas stove and a camping toaster (for gas stove).

THE AREA

Rest and unwind with a good book and a glass of wine in the garden or on your stoep, and explore the farm for walks or to watch birds in abundance. Tanagra farm is 78ha in size and for most parts accessible by various walking/ hiking trails (also great for mountain-biking), ranging from a leisurely 10 minutes' walk to a couple of hours' hike with access into the Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve. If you wish to be more active, there are a variety of activities to pursue in the area.

There is an honesty bar with Tanagra wines.

BOOKING TERMS

Payment Terms

A deposit of 50% of the total amount needs to be made within 24 hours to secure the booking.

The full rate is due for bookings made less than a week prior to arrival and for bookings for one night only. Published rates may be changed without prior notice.

No fees 28 days prior
25% 15 – 27 days prior
50% 8 – 14 days prior
100% 7 days or less prior
An administration fee of 5% will be levied for any cancellation (including changes of bookings).

Covid19 policy: Please note that depending on our booking & cleaning schedule check-in might be 1 - 2 hours later than usually to ensure proper cleaning and sanitising of the cottages. We will however do our very best to offer you a check-in at the usual times.

Minimum stays: We reserve the right to impose minimum stays for certain periods or cottages (especially over weekends and peak periods), though please always feel welcome to enquire for one night, too.
