Only two hours by car from the economic heart of Africa, Johannesburg, one can find the surprisingly calm and relaxing holiday spot called Dullstroom. Dullstroom is a natural paradise and offers exceptional panoramas of mountains and wildflowers. This makes for a wide and varied birdlife in the area - good sightings of all 3 species of crane are possible. There is also a bird of prey rehabilitation centre with daily displays near the town which is well worth visiting. The surrounding area also offers an opportunity for entertaining day trips - Sabie, Graskop and Pilgrims Rest are all within driving distance. Pilgrims Rest offers interesting historical sights and Graskop is the home of the renowned Harrie's Pancake restaurant
