THE COTTAGE 

Poortjies is named after the Poortjieskloofdam, only a few kilometers down the road towards Barrydale - the stone used to build the dam wall came from Suidster Farm and you can still see what's left of the old quarry on the farm. The quarry created a lush little micro-climate teaming with life.

110 hectare off-the-grid farm between Barrydale and Montagu. Nestled amongst fynbos flora, Poortjies, one of two cottages on the farm provides uninterrupted views across the valley, offering the perfect retreat for discerning travellers looking for refuge in nature.

THE AREA

Suidster (between Montagu and Barrydale on the world-famous R62) covers 110 hectares of pristine fynbos at the foot of the Langeberg mountains. The cottage runs on solar and is completely off-the-grid. Come explore the beauty of Klein Karoo fauna at its best. Total privacy, peace, and quiet... enjoy your wood-fired hot tub, under the most beautiful starry skies on earth.

This cottage is pet friendly. 

There is a lovely 5 km trail starting at the pile of stones near the top of the main road that runs past the cottages to the main house.
