THE CAMP
Hear the owls and dassies call at night and wake up to a chorus of bird calls. Black Eagle Tented Camp is a five minute walk from the car park (so pack accordingly), but the effort is well worth it. Shaded by ancient Forest Elder and Tierhout trees, your tent is a cool oasis on a hot Karoo day.
SLEEPING
Black Eagle Camp sleeps 8 in 4 double tents (the camp is yours exclusively when booked). All four tents are spacious with loads of natural light due to large glass sliding doors (there is however electric lighting as well as a charging station). Each tent also has its own en-suite bathroom with hot water shower, heated by a wood burning “donkey”.
LIVING
The kitchen is fully equipped for eight guests and has a double door solar powered fridge/freezer and a five plate gas hob. Outdoors is a private splash pool and fire pit for evenings under the African stars.
THE AREA
Situated in the picturesque Eastern Cape and sharing two borders with the Groendal Wilderness Area, Kleinrivier Wilderness offers you the ideal opportunity to escape the pressures of city life in a pristine mountain environment. Spend your days exploring the many trails that lead you through picturesque gorges dotted with ancient cycads. Swim in icy mountain pools or simply relax in front of a roaring log fire.
Explore the remote Winterhoek mountains while experiencing the Karoo fauna and flora by simply walking in the opposite direction. The mountains are clad in this unique flora comprising literally thousands of different fynbos species. Five species of antelope occur naturally. Reptiles are king in this dry environment, most common are the 'Bloukop koggelmanders' which scuttle out of your way on the trails. The accommodation is ideal for birders; if you are not into exercise then just wait on your deck and the birds will come to you.
GOOD TO KNOW
The parking is accessible in a normal vehicle. A short walk up the gorge with your bags is all worth it once you settle into the comfortable and serene environment of the camp. You won't want to leave.
All linen, towels and cooking utensils are supplied, you only need to take food and clothes. Starter set of wood and firelighters provided.

50% deposit required upon booking; balance due a week before arrival.
Cancellation Policy
If cancelling 7 days before arrival, forfeit 100% of the deposit
If cancelling 30 days before arrival, forfeit 25% of the deposit
If cancelling 60 days before arrival, forfeit 50% of the deposit
