Spectacular views stretch into every direction you look in true 360-degree fashion, with huge windows and swing doors framing the surrounding natural landscape, mountains and fynbos.

THE DOME

The striking geodesic StarDome bedroom makes quite a statement, and makes for a wonderfully unique sleeping experience. With a large bay window and overhead skylight, it is flooded with natural light and boasts the same unforgettable views as the rest of the cottage during the day. At night, enjoy being tucked into crisp linen on your antique brass bed while gazing up at the skylight to watch the Milky Way.

LIVING 

The Dome is fully equipped for a comfortable self-catering stay, there is also an outside braai area. Walk 5 minutes up the hillside to find the communal wood fired hot tub, a communal pool as well as a fire pit.

Starry Starry Night is completely off-grid, and is sustainably powered through green energy. The philosophy of the owners is to conserve, protect and grow the reserve they are privileged enough to call home. A strong environmental focus flows through everything that happens on the reserve, from the garden compost bins and eco detergents to the organic herb and veggie garden, water conservation, renewable energy and a general drive to tread ever more gently on this planet. It is after all the only one that we know of that can sustain our species.

THE AREA

With over 370ha of pristine mountain wilderness to explore and experience your stay at Starry Starry Night can be as action-packed or relaxed as you want it to be. During the day you can relax on your patio just soaking up the views stroll through the organic herb garden, cool off in the communal pool or warm yourself up at the newly wood-fired hot tub (kolkol) or go for a stunning hike to explore the hills valleys and natural rock pools of this beautiful piece of land. You can also enjoy mountain biking and there are some gorgeous cliffs that lend themselves to trad rock climbing . At night enjoy a tasty braai or head down to the Star Deck and send your dreams and wishes off into the glittering night sky…

GOOD TO KNOW 

There is currently no WiFi but cell reception is strong. 

Child Policy: An extra two kids under 12 can be accommodated on a sleeper couch. Children aged between 0 and 2 stay free. Children aged between 3 and 12 pay 50% of the adult rate.

Due to the secluded location of the Nova StarDome, there are numerous steps up to the communal pool, KolKol, and herb garden and some steep walkways that need to be navigated. Guests can also drive along the main access road to the top (5 - 10mins drive) should they not wish to walk up the hillside path. To get the maximum enjoyment out of Nova, guests need to be reasonably fit, active and agile. Alternatively they need to be comfortable driving to the upper common areas, or simply relaxing at the StarDome and enjoying the views.

Access: The final stretch to our reserve is via a 2km long access road that consists of a combination of gravel and concrete sections. We are continuously improving the road surface, and while it is certainly no highway, our guests have had no problem reaching us even with super compact cars like VW up! and compact cars like Ford Fiesta, but it is not suitable for very low-slung sports cars. Just take it slow, and enjoy the adventure of travelling to this beautifully remote corner.

Pet Policy: Maximum two dogs are allowed by prior arrangement with management and must conform to the following requirements:

• They must be socialised and controllable. We have our own dogs on our property and, though we have fences around our property, there is a good chance the dogs will meet each other along the way.
• Any dog poop around the homestead area and on any trails must be bagged and removed.
• Under no circumstances must dogs interfere with local wildlife and chase or kill other animals or birds.
• Our furry friends are not allowed to swim in the pools or climb onto or lie on couches and beds. Please help us keep our gorgeous 100% pure cotton sheets bright and white.
